If we were able to report on what we know is true about stories

Inasmuch as they are fully formed, not constructed from conscious details

as we do about dreams

their shimmering and immense form

the way they feel important, even if later they wither


Maybe the hardest thing about writing well is not how you write but knowing what to write for the writing to be necessary


Great art holds a mirror up to life they said. But maybe it holds a mirror up to the interior life of the consumer rather than the surface of life
