as arabs passed through these different areas, they left clear traces of a civilisation with a philosophy and way of life that were both subtle and refined. all the decorative and ornamental art that was produced belongs to such a world, the main elements of it being light, water, greenness and a special conception of time. one should also mention the importance of the senses of smell, especially that of wood and leather, and of touch.
